Career Development/Occupational Studies

Career and Technical Education (CTE) students are fortunate to have the experience of major corporations and the leadership of highly qualified teachers available when developing their skills for college and their future careers. Albertville High School’s Career and Technical Education  programs develop the talents and skills of students in classroom settings that are rigorous, progressive and certified to international standards.
The Alabama Department of Education is the only state-level educational agency in the nation to receive certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for its business/industry certification (BIC) process, used to certify CTE programs for industry compliance.  All of the programs at Albertville High School are Business/Industry Certified.  This process is relative to the standards and quality that businesses expect to have in their employees.
Alabama’s Career and Technical Education program is representative of the national career and technical education model. The national model includes sixteen career clusters. Career clusters in Alabama’s curriculum include courses that identify academic and technical knowledge and skills needed for students to pursue a wide range of career opportunities. Courses provide rigor and relevance for students by linking school-based learning with career-related experiences. Career clusters provide the framework for what students know and what they need to know to be able to attain success in the twenty-first century.  The clusters and pathways that we have decided upon are as follows:
